Project details:
LTG Associates provided evaluation support to the Office on Women’s Health in the Office of the Secretary, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to understand the challenges and opportunities encountered by employers and mothers around accommodations for lactating women returning to work after giving birth. OWH had developed significant resources for employers to support their efforts to accommodate women returning to work. LTG designed the research which included an environmental scan and interviews. The evaluation team recruited and interviewed employers in manufacturing, education, health care, and retail/restaurant industries gauging their response to the resource and to elicit their policies, practices, and experience in developing and providing accommodations. A sample of women working in these same industries was drawn for interviews in which to elicit their experience and perspectives on their lactation accommodation when returning to work. Project products were a final report and a formal briefing for the OWH.
